Koushikai Judo Players and Parents:

I just wanted to congratulate all the players who participated at the 2011 Summer Slam Judo Tournament in Paterson on Sunday June 5ht.  And I especially want to thank all the parents for their support.  We had 20 players from Kokushikai compete ranging from our youngest: Max Fominykh, Jack Polise, Farruh Turgunova and Michael Goldman in the Boys 7-8 year old divisions to Vadim Petrovici in the Senior Male Black Belt Division.  This was a first competition experience for many of our players and we hope that regardless of their outcome that all enjoyed the experience.

Special recognition was given to Eugene Zelenov for his performance in the Boys 13-14 year old division.  He wond 5 matches all by ippon and two of his opponents were at least 10-15 pounds heavier.  Eugene received a trophy for the Tournament's Outstanding Male Teenager.  Special recognition was also given to Vadim Petrovici.  Vadim received the tournament's overall Fighting Spirit Award for his comeback into second place after a controversal loss by penalty in the second round.

All competitiors should be present with their medals and awards at next Sunday's 12:45pm Youth/Aduult class on June 12th.  We would like to take a group picture of those that can attend.
