14th Annual Poetry Contest, 6th Annual Poetry Contest

World Unity, Inc. continued to do research in exploring new options and possibilities to overcome the challenges presented by the down economy.

The revenues generated for fiscal year 2010 totaled $47,082.99. Our 14th Annual Diversity and Inclusion Gala, held on November 22, 2010 raised 39,331.86. The keynote speaker was Peter Meade, CEO of Edward M. Kennedy Institute. The expenses for the year were $34,489.08.

We co-sponsored with WROR FM, the Museum of Science radio the 6th Annual Statewide poetry contest promoting diversity and equality. The Museum of Science had a special exhibit on Race How Different Are We? This was an opportunity to partner up with a large institution and reach the greater community with World Unity, Inc.’s mission and vision. An event was held at the Museum to honor all the winners. We had close to 200 entries from 28 school districts.

This year has required all of our energy and focus to finalize the site in Children’s Wharf Park. The board decided not to sponsor a professional development event.

We continue to strengthen our board with new energy, talent and leadership. We added Herb Everett, a licensed architect and business owner of small solar energy company, Brian Walsh, Director of Business Operations for Aerotek and Shau Zhang, partner at Ernst & Young.
